Contest diet - pacing it!

My mind is so far out of wack right now. My diet is up and down on the weekends and that's because I keep telling myself "I have been good all week I can have some of that!" Or I tell my self that " As of July, I can't do anything wrong, I can't eat anything that is going to ruin my chances of competing".
So by Friday I am feeling really toned, but come Monday I feel fat and flabby. My biggest problem right now is the grog and the nuts I eat with it. That's about all I am doing wrong at the moment.
My training is spot on and so is cardio. I really want to start strict dieting now, but am scared that it will happen to soon and I won't be able to hold out until October.
I don't even know if I have the discipline to go through with the contest diet. I say this now, but deep inside I know when it's time to really start it, I can do it.
Writing this is helping my thought processes already lol. I now realize that I am nither here nor there with my diet, yes, that's it. I am in limbo. Not a good place for someone that needs direction.
Ok now that I have worked it out I know when it comes to full-on, strict, no cheat meals, cut down, contest diet, I will be alright. Because I will have a direction to follow.
Until then I have to find some kind of self control. I am giving in to nuts and wine because I feel I don't have a good enough reason to say no yet.
Thanks Lia ;-)
Hi darl,
I am not a comp girl or anything but i have read about once a week having a cheat meal or day, have you thought of doing that???

Unfortunately Em the cheat meal thing doesn't work for me.
It's all or nothing for me. If I have a cheat meal I will end up binging. I work better if I diet and focus on the goal.
Thanks hun.

Wow look at your hamstrings!! Fabulous!
Wine is my downfall too - I just love it so much. I'm sure that when the time comes you'll be able to knuckle down and focus on the strict pre-comp diet, by then you'll be so focused and you'll kick butt up on that stage!
Are you still going to the comp on Sunday at Southport? I am definetely going to be there, even if I have to go by myself!

Funny things our minds aren’t the.
You are doing extremely well, and you are obviously very determined and motivated!
I suppose some of us can have an occasional off plan meal and others find it hard, I know I find it hard, but have learnt to just have a off plan meal and not binge out(most of the time).
Just got to find what works best for you and it sounds like you know what does, all the best with it :)
By the way your hammies look awesome!!!

"Thanks Lia ;o)".....what did I do, am I missing something? LOL!!
What you're feeling and experiencing is totally normal although for you at the moment it feels anything but! Wine and nuts hey, it could be far worse than that my dear. Wine is a smarter alcohol option if there is such a thing and anyway's Paul Cribb recommends drinking 1/2 glass red wine a day after your evening meal. It has so many health benefits you don't even want to get me started. And as for nuts, they're a good fat so it's all good.
Deb you need to be patient with yourself and remember that you're human and although we'd like to be we're certainly not perfect. In comparison to the scheme of things you're doing well. You must give yourself some credit!
I'm here if you need me and you know that. Don't be a stranger.

Deb, i know where you're coming from, i fall in the same pit from time to time, you know what works for me, first i focus on everything i can have, i will choose something better and drink lots of water, and then if i do weaken, i only eat half of whatever the 'could but shouldnt have food' and throw the rest in the bin, feeling totally fullfilled and only half guilty lol! :)
"I don't even know if I have the discipline to go through with the contest diet. I say this now, but deep inside I know when it's time to really start it, I can do it."
i just quoted that because i think the following might help. In one of the books i read the author made a comment about how you can think one think, but in your sub-concious mind you are saying another thing and your sub-concious will win every time! It's like for example, the captain of a ship setting all of his navigational tools to head north, then saying oh no no im going to go east....well, he will never go east becasue hes already set his path. Does this make sense?
In most of the things i've read the authors always say only to speak the truth, saying untruths will lead you in the opposite direction of where you want to go. If you need a hand getting on top of this, try the Scale the World program, it is FREE and so EMPOWERING www.scaletheworld.com - i think it may help.

Kat, I can't thank you enough for your wonderful and very helpful post.
I seem to be back on top of things and have been now since Sunday. The test will be this weekend, only I know I will succeed, because that would mean that I have won, and I am becoming stronger. Stronger then that sub-concious mind that keeps nagging at me ;-)

Once you have a definite goal date, believe me you tighten up your diet in a hurry!! When I don't have a comp in sight, I can get a bit slack on the weekends too. Never enough to be more than 3 months easy out from comp, but still a bit slack just the same!! xxx

Hi Deb, don't think I have ever left a comment on your blog so thought it was time too.
Just wanted to say your hammies are looknig pretty damn good at the moment!!!! You should be really happy with that. They even look more in shape than the photo you posted on the stairs (May 3rd). So you must be doing something right girl!!
I am sooo with you on the wine thing - I am a huge stress pot and the only thing I feel like that relaxes me (apart from exercising) is that glass of red!!!! Then of course one is never enough...... then heaven help it if there is cheese about (I freeze the cheese so I can not indulge if the wine makes me weak!!!)
I went 12 weeks earlier without a glass (man that was hard) then about a month ago I gave in - then once I got the taste for it I ended up having 3 - 4 glasses a week for about a month. Now I have been 3 (nearly 4) weeks without a glass and I am still craving for a glass!. So Deb I can totally sympathise with you on this subject!!!
But Lia has said one glass a night is good for you......Lia you should not have told me that!!! :-)
Come July and I bet you'll be motivated and focused!!!
