Cardio after eating

Up until I got my awesome exercise bike I used to do all my training in the mornings. I would weight train and then do cardio, this was not advisable because I wanted to add muscle and not burn it up doing cardio.
So now I do weight traing in the morning and cardio at night. I really feel that this system is working really well for me. I can feel myself getting fitter and stronger.
So whats my problem lol? I am so busy throughout the entire day that I only have a chance to do my cardio about 30mins after dinner. It doesn't make me feel ill or anything but I was just worried about it being a bad thing to do.
It turns out it's not :-), one less stress on my head lol.
When food is in your stomach during exercise, your heart has to pump blood to both the exercising muscles and those in the stomach.
Fit people can exercise after they eat as long as they don't exercise so intensely that their skeletal muscles use up all the available oxygen and cause their stomach muscles to hurt.
I have no pain as my dinner only consists of no more then 100gms of chicken breast and veges.
Also the body will use the first available energy source, which would be whats in my stomach. This is good because I know my muscles will be spared!!
Hi hun,
Sounds like your burning along nicely :)
I do cardio in the morning (while i am in the progress of developing the habit LOL) and then weights at night, do you think i should swap it round???
I can't wait to see you when your ready for comp talk about hot mumma ;)

You dont need to swap them around Em, as long as they are not one after another. Splitting your weight training from your cardio is beneficial to muscle gains and weight loss.

I do both... some cardio in the morning, some at night... depending on what else needs to be fitted in. I don't think it matters too much? Although Coach prefers morning before breakfast if the result you are trying to achieve is maximum fat burning!!
You're doing awesome Deb!!

Yes, doing cardio after fasting at a low hart rate will burn more fat. Or doing it after weights when your weight training has used up a lot of the glycogen stores then it has to turn to burning fat. In the end I don't think there is a bad time to do it.
Cool blog by the way. Its my first time here. Seems odd though that you blot your face out and post yours sons freely???
Cheers

Hi Rice,
My only concern aboiut doing cardio in the morning on an empty somach is that it will use up muscle before it uses fat. So I don't use this method at all.
As for wheather I show my face on here is completely up to me :-). I choose not to at this stage.
Thanks for popping in.
